HISTORY

 

            The Land Forces Military School for WOs and NCOs ”BASARAB I” has a rich tradition in the Romanian military educational system training numerous generations of WOs and NCOs and specialists from Land Forces bearing the values and the cultural educational heritage of all the WOs and NCOs previous training schools.

 In the last two decades of existence in the City of Tulips, Land Forces Military School for WOs and NCOs ”BASARAB I” has trained over 13300 WOs and NCOs and specialized the training of other 4000. This training was permanently appreciated by the leaders of the Romanian Army as well as their partners and allies within the operational theatres.

 

HISTORICAL LANDMARKS

 

July 25th, 1960 - By the order of the General Staff, in Pitesti, Tanks and Vehicles Military School for NCOs was founded by joining Tank NCOs Military School in Targoviste with the Tank and Driving Technical NCOs Military School in Mizil and the Driving Technical Military School in Craiova;

 

December 1st, 1964 - School changed its name into Military School for Tank and Driving WOs and NCOs;

 

October 21st, 1974 - According to Ministerial Decision No. 28 the Military School for WOs and NCOs is named Military School for WOs and NCOs "Basarab I";

 

March 22nd, 1991 – By the Ministerial Decision No. 906/1990, Military School for WOs and NCOs "Basarab I" changed into military higher education institution under the name of Driving Military Institute "Basarab I";

 

August 1st, 1996 - by the Ministerial Order No. 10 from March 5th, 1996, the Driving Military Institute "Basarab I" became Land Forces Military School for WOs and NCOs;

 

April 30th, 1999 - by the Ministerial Order No. 44/1999, was established NCOs Training Centre as part of the Land Forces Military School for WOs and NCOs;

 

August 4th, 2000 - By the Land Forces Staff decision, the institution was named Land Forces Military School for WOs and NCOs;

 

2001-2002 - NCOs Training Centre was reorganized and became part of the educational structure of the shool;

 

August 23rd, 2004 -  By the order J. 5784 from August 19th, 2004, the school received the honorary name of "Basarab I";

 

April 23rd, 2009 - According to the Presidential Decree No. 1353 from December 22nd, 2008, Land Forces Military School for WOs and NCOs "Basarab I" received the Fighting Flag;

 

June 11th, 2012 - Institution received the CERTIFICATE ON THE QUALITYOF EDUCATION and it was issued the accreditation of all post-secondary education programs by the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports;

 

April 23rd, 2014- By the order of the Land Forces Staff No. F.T. O.P. 112 from March 20th, 2014 it was granted the Land Forces Badge of Honor to the Land Forces Military School for WOs and NCOs "Basarab I";

 

April 24th, 2014 – The Institution’s Driving School was reauthorized;

 

2015 - Five new professional qualifications and 3 qualifications accredited for the 1-year post-secondary study program were authorized to 10 accredited qualifications and 4 qualifications for the two study programs;

 

July 25th, 2015 - On the occasion of the 55th anniversary from the establishment as appreciation of the activity of the Land Forces Military School for WOs and NCOs "BASARAB I" for the last 5 years, the Chief of General Staff granted to the institution the General Staff Honor Emblem;

 

September, 2016 - The school was evaluated by the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance for Preuniversity Education and obtained the Quality Certificate valid for the years 2017-2022;

 

November 15th, 2019 – In a resolution on report no. I -2305 on November 11th, 2019, the Chief of Defense Staff approved the Land Forces Military School for WOs and NCOs “Basarab I” to take over the Troop Children’s School military traditions which was founded/established on October 12th , 1863.
